I honestly don't know how people didn't get bored to tears with Diablo III just switching skills around every time something wasn't going their way. Being the best will mean jack shit that much quicker. You are merely decreasing the amount of time where people in the world of Sanctuary are actually using different skill sets with the character they built. In the future there will be builds that are considered defacto better than the rest. I keep hearing "I want to experiment" (Public Test Realm?) but what I see in game and in forums is "I want to be OP the day I buy the game". Or using a rune glitch in Elden Ring the week it came out. Or like when someone goes into a game, picks a lock, the contents are lame, so they load the last save point right before they opened the chest and try it again. Respec'ing to me feels like putting in a cheat code for a game. In the end-game, changing your build will require a significant investment, to appropriately match the time and effort you’ve put into defining your character. It will be easy to do when you first start a character as your character grows, the effort and cost required to respec will grow too. The number of times you can do this will be unlimited, but it won’t be free. In Diablo IV, you will be able to respec your skills and passives. We also want to encourage players to experiment with different skills when they start playing, and discover builds that are right for them. Like many of you, we want choices to matter and characters to feel different from each other-not just one click away from being identical to all the others.
